First impression

Inside the packaging for the Z MTL tank by Geek Vape, you will find a user manual, warranty card, a little bag with some extra O-rings, a spare drip tip, bath salts, a spare coil, and the tank itself. The pre-installed coil is a Geek Vape A series coil with a 0.8 resistance, 12 to 16 watt range, and the spare coil is also a Geek Vape A series coil with a 1.2 resistance and 8-12 watt range. Both coils are mesh coils.

The tank has a 20mm diameter which bulges out to 22mm and can hold 2ml of e-liquid. It also has a 510 drip tip and top fill. The tank has top airflow with a stopper that has three holes that can be adjusted to fine-tune the airflow. It’s worth noting that the tank cannot be disassembled for cleaning, so it needs to be air-dried after cleaning. There is also a sleeve around the tank to protect the glass since the glass cannot be replaced.

How to replace the coil

To replace the coil, turn the 510 pin from the base to access the inside of the tank. The coil head can be pulled out, and you can see the three airflow holes on each side. The coil can be installed in any orientation, so the guide on the coil is not necessary. Prime the coil before placing it inside the tank by dropping a few drops of e-liquid inside the coil.

Performance

I wish there were more options for airflow. The tank has a lot of wasted space, and I would have preferred to see a couple of smaller holes to make it tighter. I’m surprised they didn’t do this, as it would have been a simple modification. Additionally, the tank is tall, which is more of a personal preference than a significant drawback. However, I wanted to mention it nonetheless. Another con is that if the glass breaks due to falling on a pointed object, it cannot be replaced, which may deter some people from purchasing it.

Moving on to the positives, the tank has a top-fill feature, two drip tips, and comes with two coils. The cage design of the tank is also a plus, and the top airflow is suitable for those who prefer it. However, the top airflow reduces the liquid capacity of the tank. It is important to note that tanks with top airflow tend to have a double wall in the chimney, making them slightly larger in size.

Regarding the vaping experience, with the 0.8 coil at 15 watts and airflow adjusted to one hole, it produces a loose MTL hit. Increasing the airflow to three holes creates a restrictive direct lung hit suitable for high nicotine levels. However, I would have preferred if the tank had two smaller holes to allow for a proper MTL hit without the need for manually adjusting the airflow. The flavor of the tank is decent, similar to other MTL tanks from Geek Vape. It is worth mentioning that the tank does not leak, and there is no gurgling due to the top airflow design. Overall, the Z MTL by Geek Vape is a decent tank with good flavor and a protective cage design, but its tall size and lack of options for airflow may be a drawback for some.
