Thunderhead Creations Elite Lite VS Elite Pro MTL Tank

Intro

2021 has been a good year for mouth to lung tanks. Today we’re going to take a look into the Thunderhead Creations Elite Lite MTL Tank and Elite Pro MTL Tank. They’re basically the same tank, except that the Elite Pro got more accessories in the package comparing to the Elite Lite. They are a brand new mouth to lung tank that extends out the range of tanks that Thunderhead Creations has already done.

Getting Started & Performance

The overall diameter of the Elite Lite MTL tank and Elite Pro MTL tank is 22mm, overall height including the standard drip tip is 49mm, holding 2ml of eliquid. As we mention above that the main difference between the Elite Lite and Elite Pro is the accessories included with the package. With the Elite Lite MTL RTA, you only get one airflow insert pre installed. If you want extra airflow inserts you need to buy the separate pack available from Thunderhead Creations. As standard with the Elite Lite MTL RTA, we got the honeycomb airflow insert that is right for mouth to lung vapes.

For the Elite Pro MTL Tank, it’s the same tank as the Elite Lite, but the package comes with a whole bunch of other accessories. The package is a hard metal case. Unscrewing the case we got the Elite Pro Tank and those airflow inserts. To replace the airflow insert of the Elite Pro MTL Tank, just twist the insert in counterclockwise direction to take the insert off, and then twist any other insert in clockwise direction into the base. It’s not very convenient to do the insert replacement job though.

With the Elite Lite MTL tank, you’re basically locked to mouth to lung vapes only, while with the Elite Pro MTL tank you can also do restrictive direct to lung vape or direct to lung vape with the help of the different types of airflow inserts.

There are two pieces of pre-made fused clapton coils included in the package. It’s pretty easy to build and wick the single coil Elite Lite/Elite Pro MTL Tank since it’s got a GTA raised style deck. Just use the hex screw driver to unscrew the hex screws and then insert the coil into the deck, tighten up the screws and cut off the leads of the coil. We want to nudge the coil in the middle so we pull it out just a touch to give it a bit of tension and raise it up about 2mm above the airflow. So that the airflow gives it full coverage. Do a dry burn with the coil and then insert the cotton into the coil when it cools down. Cut the cotton about 6mm and then push the tails down to the deck. Do not compress the cotton too much. After wicking, drop a few eliquids onto the coil to let it soak up.

The Elite Lite/Elite Pro has a top fill method. To fill the tank up, just twist the top cap off, and fill eliquid into the tank through the fill hole. The tank holds 2ml eliquid, which is enough for a mouth to lung tank. The airflow is adjustable through the airflow ring on the base.
