Vaporesso Target 200 Review

Product Intro

Target 200 is the first dual battery high powered box mod from vaporesso for a good number of months. The last one was one of the Gen series and that was a while ago. For the target range we’ve had the Target 80, Target 100 and this big fella Target 200. The Target 200 is the latest version of the relaunched target that we are going to be seeing big subohm tank called iTank and dual battery Target 200 mod.

High-powered dual battery mod kits used to be very common in the market. I mean SMOK were releasing like one every three days back in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Then the pod market hit and the emphasis shifted away from the hobbyist advanced side of the market and the high wattage vapers. It shifted back to the beginning of the market that people were giving up smoking and going on to vaping. But the problem with the pod market was that it overtook everything. What was the case of dual battery box mods? About 3-4 years ago, at least two or three sometimes double that number four or five and sometimes six dual battery box mods were released from various manufacturers in one month. Now it got to the stage where we’re lucky to see one being released every month especially at the height of the pod craze at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. But the vape industry goes in cycles. It’s always going in cycles as the pod market has stabilized and some manufacturers started its downtown. A lot of these manufacturers are going back to the hobbyist side of vaping high-powered dual battery box mods.

First impression & getting started

iTank

The iTank comes with a removable 510 drip tip and filling the tank is pretty easy. There’s a little notch with triangle arrow indicator on the iTank that shows where to push to get to the filling hole. Just find the notch and twist the top cap to one side and fill through the filling hole. The iTank has a very big juice capacity of 8ml. With the TPD version, there’s going to be a silicon plug inside to limit the juice capacity to be 2ml for UK market. The airflow for the iTank is fully adjustable with three air holes at the bottom. Running the tank at 60 watts with the airflow fully open, it was too much air. Close the airflow half way, it become much better. The flavor is typical as you would expect from a Vaporesso coil.

GTi Coils

Again the iTank comes with the GTi series coils, 0.2ohm mesh coil rating for 60-75W and 0.4ohm mesh coil rating for 50-60W. The GTi 0.2ohm coil is a single coil with big wide hole inside which means you can literally breathe through the tank especially considering the airflow controls getting three air holes in it. To replace the coil for iTank, just screw the base off, pull the old coil out and push a new one in, then screw the tank base back and you’re good to go.

Target 200 Mod

Vaporesso went with a raised platform thing with the Target 200 mod which basically means you’re limited to the size of the tank you put on the mod. I’m a bit surprised that they put a 510 raised plate at the front.

On one side of the Target 200 mod are fire button, down & up and mode button, usb charge port and main screen, normal construction, nothing special. On the other side there’s kind of denim cloth effect thing going on like the Vaporesso Target 100.

The Target 200 mod is equipped with the axon chip and it takes two 18650 batteries. It’s almost the same board and chip that you’ve got in the Target 100 Mod, except that Vaporesso bump this chip up to 200 watts. As to the working modes, we can press the mode button to switch from F(t) mode, Pulse mode, and Diy mode that includes variable wattage mode, variable voltage mode and bypass mode. According to vaporesso, the F(t) mode in the AXON CHIP provides a precise heating rate control and the full vaporization of different flavors at different temperatures, which is different from temperature control.

It’s a little bit complicated to operate the Target 200 menu because they hide the basic settings at a second menu layer and putting weird settings on the front panel. Usually variable wattage mode is actually on the front panel you can actually select it without having to enter the secondary menu. Other than that the Target 200 is a solid mod for sure.

The name of the mod is Target 200, but that doesn’t mean it’s actually a 200 watt mod. The front panel says 220 watts but since it is a dual 18650 mod we can’t actually get 220 watts out of it, we’re gonna get about 200 with a couple of freshly charged 18650 batteries.
