Australian Border Force Seized & Destroyed Unregistered Ecigs

According to local media reports on June 13th, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia has issued 38 infringement notices to four Sydney-based companies, involving a total amount of AUD 588,840, for allegedly importing 22 batches of a total of 379,600 nicotine e-cigarettes.

The four companies, TSG Liverpool Street Pty Ltd, TSG Balmain Pty Ltd, TSG Chatswood Pty Ltd, and Jaradat & Sabbagh Group Pty Ltd, attempted to import nicotine vaporization products (prescription drugs) that were not registered with the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods, which is not in compliance with relevant standards.

The TGA laboratory tested samples of the IGET, GUNPOD, and HQD disposable e-cigarette brands imported this time, and the results showed that they contained prohibited ingredients listed in the 2021 Therapeutic Goods Order (TGO 110) for nicotine e-cigarette product standards.

Currently, unapproved nicotine e-cigarette products have been intercepted by the Australian Border Force and will be seized and destroyed based on the TGA’s recommendations. On May 2nd this year, the Minister for Health and Aged Care announced that the Australian government is taking strong action to crack down on the supply of illegal e-cigarette products.
