Canada’s Flavor Ban On Vape Products Is Opposed

The ban on nicotine e-cigarette products has been opposed by many Canadian scholars, health authorities and tobacco control experts. They said that excessive regulation of e-cigarettes would harm public health. The Montreal Institute of Cardiology recently published an article titled “Prohibiting the flavor of e-cigarette liquid? A very bad idea.”

The article believes that Canada’s proposal to ban flavored products is flawed. There is no claim that e-cigarettes will become an “epidemic” among young people. This article evaluated multiple studies. These studies found that only 1% of teenagers who use e-cigarettes have never used tobacco before. Research data from San Francisco shows that after banning the use of flavored e-cigarettes, the number of young people who smoke has increased significantly.

“In other words, the anti-tobacco organization’s condemnation of the e-cigarette prevalence’ among young people did not lead to an increase in the number of youth smokers, but a significant decrease. If e-cigarettes cause young people to smoke, this is obviously impossible. Montreal Heart Disease Said Dr. Martin Juneau, a cardiologist and director of prevention at the Institute of Science.

Dr. Juneau also pointed out that the conversation seemed to ignore adult smokers and focused only on teenagers. And emphasized that compared with other smoking cessation aid products, this product has higher efficacy.

“The effectiveness of e-cigarettes in promoting smoking cessation is not abstract: surveys show that at least 4.3 million Americans, 2.4 million Britons and 7.5 million Europeans quit smoking through these devices. At the same time, it greatly reduces the number of smokers and the risk of premature death. Therefore, there is no doubt that e-cigarettes have made a significant contribution to the significant decline in the global adult smoking rate, from 23.5% in 2007 to 19% today. For these reasons, in our view, the prohibition of flavored e-cigarettes It’s a terrible idea,” Dr. Juneau said.
